英國的下午茶文化

現在的下午茶非常流行,我們都會在閒時約朋友一起進行high tea(下午茶),那麼你了解過下午茶的來源嗎?現在的下午茶文化跟先前的有很大的不同,讓我們一起了解下吧。

下午茶的起源:(the origin of English afternoon tea)

The custom of taking afternoon tea is believed to have been first introduced in England in 1840  by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford.

At that time ,lunch was taken early and dinner was not served in the evening until about 9 pm. The Duchess apparently became hungry in the afternoon and ask for some tea, bread and butter and cake to be brought to her room. This soon became a habit, and the Duchess started to invite friends round to join her.

由於當時的午餐時間較早,晚餐時間較晚,避免過於飢餓,公爵夫人們就會吃一些甜品,麵包之類的食物充飢。

      對於下午茶的食物,人們的服飾,是有一定的講究的。

During the 1880’s upper-class,and society women would change into long gowns,gloves and hats for their afternoon tea which usually served in the drawing room between 4 and 5 o’

     (下午四點到五點時,貴族婦女便會穿上長袍,帶上手套以及帽子,前往休息室享用下午茶)

Traditional afternoon tea consists of a selection dainty sandwiches scones served with clotted cream.Cakes and pastries are also served.Tea grown in India and Ceylon is poured from silver tea pots into delicate bone china cups.

(傳統的下午茶包括:精選的三文治,英式奶油鬆餅,以及蛋糕等,選用印度或錫蘭的茶葉放入 銀色茶壺裡面沖泡,倒入精緻的中國骨瓷茶杯中享用)

English afternoon tea’s special tea is produced in the British colony of India’s Darjeeling tea and Earl Grey, or Ceylon Highland Tea, in addition the UK has the habit of afternoon tea drink milk tea. Tea also comes with sliced the lemon and milk cans.

(除了茶之外,有時還會享用奶茶,隨茶而來的還有檸檬薄片,奶罐)

Afternoon snacks is generally formal ‘three planes’, in the form of :placing the first layer of flavored sandwiches,the second layer is the traditional British dessert scone,the three bottom-up aircraft should start to eat dim sum.

 (正式的下午茶會被壘成三層架的形式:第一層放置各種口味的三文治,第二層則是英國傳統點 心司康,第三層是小蛋糕和水果撻,而且要從下往上吃)

Usually the hostess service their guests by themselves to show the respect.

 (通常是由女主人穿正式服裝來服務客人,以表尊重)
